Nepali celebrities we lost in the year 2017

Every year, we sadly say goodbye to some celebrities and artists. As we progress into 2018, let’s look back at the talent we have lost in 2017.
We saw our first celebrity loss early in the year. On the 3rd of January, 2017, Bishnu Bhakta Phuyal, an 80-year-old comedy actor, fell while on stage during a performance and had to be rushed to the hospital. He passed away shortly after.

Just under two weeks later, on January 14, Anil Adhikari – a young singer known as the Yama Buddha – was found dead on his bathroom floor in the UK.
The end of January also held its share of tragedy when Panna Kaji Shakya passed away. The singer was 85 years old.
Let’s fast forward to the middle of the year, on the fateful date of July 1. Nilu Doma Sherpa, a director and the only openly lesbian actress in the country, passed away in her sleep a day after attending a wedding.
More sad news befell us towards the end of the year on November 16 when Dipen Shah, a 19-year-old singer and comedian, passed away due to kidney failure.
In December, Prema Shah, mother to Jal Shah, passed away in the United States. Her literary works, especially those aimed at children, are treasured throughout the country. Another celebrity death that occurred in December was that of actress, singer, and dancer Bina Thapa, who passed away in an accident on the road.

These celebs have had huge impacts on the industry and have legacies that will not soon be forgotten.
